Shakira Considers Going Under the Knife for Breast Implants
Last week ended the sixth season of The Voice and with that we said goodbye to coach, Shakira. The Latin singer has been one of the greatest additions to the show in recent years, but with the upcoming season quickly approaching, producers have decided to replace her with pop superstar Gwen Stefani. While we’re obviously excited to see what Stefani will bring to the table, we can’t help but miss the Columbian star. Not only is she extremely talented, with countless singles under her belt like “Empire” and “Hips Don’t Lie”, but also breathtakingly stunning.
Even though the world can’t help but admire Shakira’s amazing body, the singer didn’t always love her appearance. She admitted in an interview with In Touch magazine last year that she once considered going under the knife for a boob job. Shakira stated, “A few years ago, I considered surgery, breast augmentation and all kinds of things: ‘Maybe my eyebrows should be higher. Maybe my lips should be bigger.’ It was really making me bitter.” After thinking long and hard about it, she eventually decided plastic surgery just wasn’t the answer for her. Shakira explains, “Eventually I said, ‘Forget it,’ and started accepting myself the way I am.”
Along with the rest of the world, we admire Shakira so much for that decision. While plastic surgery is always tempting, since it’s an easy way out for achieving the perfect body, it’s not the only answer. By Shakira choosing to embrace her small curves, she’s sending out a positive message to her fans that you should love your body no matter what it looks like. You’re allowed to have flaws, since that’s what makes you unique. Too many times now, celebrities go under the knife and then claim to the media that their bodies are all natural. This causes younger generations to yearn for a body that is simply unrealistic. Not only this, though, but it also shows that celebrities are humans too. There’s things about their bodies that they aren’t proud of either. After all, nobody is perfect and everyone has things they wish they could change about themselves.
With an attitude like this, Shakira is hoping to set forth a new kind of self-image in the public. Stop worrying about what you don’t love about yourself, and instead focus on everything that makes you…you.
