Lauren Conrad vs. Allure Magazine
Uh oh. It looks like Lauren Conrad isn’t Allure magazine’s biggest fan anymore. The 28-year-old former reality star turned fashion designer took to Twitter on Monday to publicly bash the publication after they described her as “basic” in a recent feature named “Beauty and a Beat”. Of course, being described as “basic” doesn’t automatically call for a feud, but since Conrad is known for her classic style, she took it personally. Plus, the magazine went on to say some harsh things about the “basic” women of our society, so who can blame Conrad?
Well, what exactly did Allure magazine have to say about those they called “basic”? Here goes, “Made famous by Kreayshawn, and viral by YouTube, the Basic woman is remarkably unremarkable. What’s noteworthy about her style is its very plainness. Except to her. She swears those red soled shoes are cutting-edge.” The article then went on to state that “basic” girls are known for their “skinny jeans” and “blowout or sausage curls.” Ouch! If you thought that seemed a bit cruel, read what Conrad tweeted with a photo of the magazine article. She writes, “I definitely just got called a basic b*tch! Haha! Sausage curls!? Really @Allure_magazine?”
Are you Team Conrad or Team Allure? Personally, while I believe that celebrities should accept criticism and shouldn’t take themselves so serious, since that’s part of the job, this one may have been a bit uncalled for. In fact, the former “Hills” star has been the cover girl for the magazine on three separate occasion, with the most recent time being in April. Then again, by Conrad bringing attention to this scathing article, she is only giving the magazine what it wants. Now, people who wouldn’t have otherwise will go out and pick up this month’s Allure to see the article. That is Hollywood for you, though. As they say, any publicity is good publicity.
If you are wondering, Allure has yet to comment on Conrad’s tweets, but they did have time to post about their August cover girl, Rachel McAdams. Hmm.
