Julia Roberts Speaks Out on Plastic Surgery
I think we can all agree that plastic surgery is pretty synonymous with Hollywood. It seems like practically every celebrity has gone under the knife, and yet it’s still such a taboo subject. Barely any stars want to admit to their plastic surgery which blows my mind. If it’s so common, why not own up to what you’ve had done? Well, Julia Roberts is one of those rare stars that has refused to go under the knife during her time in the spotlight. However, she knows that the decision to avoid plastic surgery has probably hurt her career a bit.
Julia Roberts Speaks Plastic Surgery
In fact, Roberts believes that older women who have not had plastic surgery performed have taken a “big risk”. In an interview with YOU Magazine, Roberts said, “By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift, but I’ve told Lancome that I want to be an aging model – so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50.” This interview comes out right on the heels of Renee Zellweger’s controversial plastic surgery. With all the backlash that Zellweger received over going under the knife, wouldn’t it be safe to say that drastic plastic surgery to look younger is just as risky?
Personally, I believe that getting some plastic surgery to enhance what you’ve already been given is fine. If you can afford to get a nip tuck here or a shot of Botox, why not? My issue with plastic surgery comes when celebrities use it to completely transform their bodies and selves as a whole. It’s like these stars forget that they’re in the public eye and that we still remember what they used to look like. If you’re going to go under the knife to look like a practically new person, then admit to it. When it’s that obvious, why hide it?
What do you think? Do you feel Roberts made a good point? Sound off!
