Joan Rivers Remains on Life Support
This is so sad. Ever since I was a little kid, Joan Rivers has been a television staple for me. From her hosting the E! news red carpet segments with her daughter, Melissa, at every major award show to co-hosting “Fashion Police” on that very same channel, Rivers has been a constant source of entertainment. If you’ve been following the news at all lately, you know that things haven’t been looking good for Rivers. Last Thursday, the 81-year-old host stopped breathing while she was undergoing a minor throat procedure in New York City. Ever since then, she has been in a medically induced coma at a local hospital.
When the news broke that Rivers stopped breathing, Melissa and Rivers’ son, Cooper, flew across the country to be with their mom as she fights for her life. Yesterday, though, Melissa finally issued a statement with on Rivers’ health status. She said, “On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we’ve received. At this time she does remain on life support. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers.”
There have been rumors floating around that Melissa is thinking about taking legal action against the endoscopy clinic where Rivers was treated. However, according to a source close to the family, these rumors “couldn’t be further from the truth. Right now, she [Melissa] is 100 percent focused on her mother’s health. Any story suggesting otherwise is the stuff of fairies and elves—it’s fantasy.” That same source then went on to say, “everyone is hopeful and taking it day by day.”
I really hope Rivers is able to pull through this ordeal and come out of this situation stronger than ever before. Besides this obvious, I think it would be so interesting to hear what Rivers would have to say on this whole matter. You know she come up with some funny story to tell her fans. You’re in my thoughts, Joan Rivers.
