George Clooney Gives His Opinion on Plastic Surgery
Anyone can tell you that women in Hollywood are put under a whole lot of pressure to stay young and beautiful. However, George Clooney is here to tell us all that men get some of that pressure too. He recently put out a message for every single actor who has made the decision to dye their hair, tweak, nip or tuck any part of their body.
In a recent interview Clooney did with BBC Interview, the actor was asked whether or not he would ever get plastic surgery or even just dye his hair. After all, Clooney has been rocking the silver fox look for years. He answered, “Clearly I haven’t. I’ve seen it happen—particularly on men—I don’t think it really works; I think it actually makes you look older. I’m a big believer in the idea that you can’t try to look younger. You just have to look the best you can at the age you are.”
From there, Clooney explained that the aging process will at some point affect the roles that actors are offered. He said, “I think for all of us you have to come to terms with getting older and not trying to fight it. . . . You have to get used to the idea that your roles in films and who you are and how you’re perceived is going to change and that’ll disappoint people at times.”
Clooney also made sure to speak about the double standards that are constantly going on in Hollywood. He commented, “One good thing that’s come out of [the Sony hack] is the conversation in very liberal Hollywood that women aren’t being paid the same and . . . there’s something like 15 female directors in a town of directors. I think it’s a very good conversation that they’re starting to have.”
Do you agree with Clooney? Do you feel that women are always scrutinized for their looks while men can get away with aging naturally? While I feel very strongly about this point, I think it’s great to see someone so well respected like Clooney bring focus to the point that there is such a double standard going on. You tell them, George.
