The Fault in Our Stars Bench Returned to Amsterdam
Okay, so I loved the film “The Fault in Our Stars” as much as the next person, but I would never go as far as to steal the bench that was used in it from Amsterdam. Wait, you haven’t heard this story yet? Well, let me fill you in on what went down. In case you didn’t see the movie or read the book, I’ll start all the way from the beginning. “The Fault in Our Stars” is a book turned movie that focuses on two teenagers, Hazel and Gus, that have been battling cancer since childhood. While sharing their stories with each other, they of course fall madly in love. However, throughout both the novel and film adaption they go on one big adventure to Amsterdam to visit Hazel’s favorite author. On this trip, Gus has huge news to break to Hazel, which he gently tells her about while sitting on this infamous bench.
As the movie adaption blew up all over the world, becoming a real box office success with die hard fans everywhere you turn, it comes as no surprise to me that someone would feel the urge to actually steal this bench. Some people are just that dedicated…obsessed…crazy…however you want to phrase it. No worries, though. The bench that went missing early last week is now back in its rightful spot. If you are a bit of a skeptic about this and are wondering if the bench that was returned is actually the one used in the movie, officials have confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that is in fact the same one.
This should come as a huge relief to those “The Fault in Our Stars” fans who want to be able to sit where Shailene Woodley sat when they visit Amsterdam. Now for any of you movie buffs out there, you may recall that this isn’t the first time film props were stolen. Some of the other high profile movies that lost important memorabilia include Dorothy’s ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz”, John Travolta’s car in “Pulp Fiction” and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man suits from “Spider-Man”.
